Poll: 85% of Mauritians of 35-44 years own a smartphone




85% of people who took part in a survey conducted by the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) among a sample of 352 adults representative of the Mauritian population claim that they have a smartphone, according to the online Mauritian newspaper Defimedia.
 
 
The study revealed that 58% of respondents go on social networks from a smartphone at least once a day. The results of this online survey have been published on Wednesday, August 19th.
 
The main results of the survey show that:
 
• The smartphone owners use their devices almost permanently. PC or laptop is primarily used during normal business hours and the touch pad in the early evening
• 85% of respondents aged of 35-44 years have a smartphone
• 58% are on social networks from a smartphone at least once a day
• 45% use their mobile phones even in the toilet
• 58% are willing to go back for their mobile if they have forgotten it
• 46% use their mobile phone for basic functions such as making calls, send SMS and access social networks
