Mayotte: The case known as "customs" opens today, with 29 employees suspected of being rogue cops
The trial of 29 customs officials, suspected of bribery, begins today.
 
The case was revealed in October 2007, during the seizure by customs in Mayotte of 7.5 tones of tobacco, carefully hidden behind imported mattresses.
 
The tobacco came from Kenya and was intended to supply the local market.
 
And turn of events, the freight forwarder involved in traffic balance investigators a corrupt pact signed with the French Customs officiating on l'île aux parfums.
 
The prosecution opened in the wake of an investigation to shed light on these serious allegations and investigations conducted jointly by customs and border police, lead to the indictment of 29 customs officers, most of whom worked at the port of Longoni as indicated by KTV (Kwezi Television).
