The seven service stations of TotalMayotte company and storehouses of the Mahoris society of petroleum products, the SMSPP, are closed since Thursday until an indefinite date. The two companies have joined the trade union of service stations owners of the four overseas departments of France, namely Martinique, Guadeloupe, Guyana and Reunion Island.

Service stations owners are protesting against the decrees of implementation procedures by French government on  fuel prices.

The long queues of vehicles around service stations have caused road traffic congestion. The service stations closures have provoked anger among motorists.
Contrary to the surprise strike on 10 December of last year, the management of TotalMayotte has informed this time Jacques Witkowski, Prefect of Mayotte for taking the necessary procurement actions for the population and public services, as indicated by Mayotte Hebdo newspaper.
