The appeal hearing of the "pig head" case at the Mamoudzou court gave its verdict this Thursday, July 9, 2015. The three defendants are the subject of acquittal despite the "morally reprehensible" facts according to the judge.

For their part, the civil parties are shocked by this judicial decision. The appeal court has highlighted that the offense for an act committed is not punishable under criminal law.

As a reminder, two French military wives had been convicted at first instance in September 2014 to 9 months of imprisonment, six months suspended sentence for putting a pig's head in front of the Labattoir mosque after an alcoholic evening.

The third protagonist, a military, for his part had been suspended for six months. 16,000 euros of damages had been granted to the mosque and each individual accused had been sentenced to pay a fine of 3,000 euros.
