Mayotte: Municipal police officers of Mamoudzou soon armed with truncheons?




The thirty or so municipal police officers of the town of Mamoudzou may soon be provided with truncheons and tear gas to carry out their public service duties on a daily basis.
 
"They wanted to be armed", recently said Bacar Ali Boto, the first deputy mayor of Mamoudzou with a municipal team that also wants to ultimately upturn the number of police officers serving in the city "to fight against insecurity."
 
A request for permission of weapons port of the sixth category is has been officially sent to the prefect of Mayotte so that it endorses this endowment.
