Mayotte: Fruit bats in the spotlight this weekend during the 17th International night of the bat
Fruit bats of Mayotte will be celebrated on the night of 24 to 25 August, from dusk to dawn in the 17th  international night of bats organized  on the island of Mayotte by an association of naturalists, as equally in some 30 countries around the world.

Chiroptera, mammals used to fly during the night to hunt their prey, however, have a specificity in Mayotte since they live during the day.

Fruit bats of Mayotte thus were studied for six months at the heart of their natural habitat and by deciphering their lifestyle to demonstrate their essential role in the ecosystem of Mahoran forests.

The account of this scientific work will be made public by Romain Boudet on the occasion of the night of the 17th International Bat, at a conference to be held tomorrow, Friday, August 23, 2013 in the late afternoon General Council of Mayotte.
