Mayotte: Double escape the prison of Majicavo
The prison of Majicavo in the North of the island of Mayotte, was the scene this weekend of a spectacular double escape.

Two detainees of 23 and 27 years, sentenced for rape and possession of edged weapons escaped through the roofs of the prison, "taking advantage of the courtyard walkway where a metallic structure supports the fence", as explained by a unionist.

The two men are considered as potentially dangerous by the gendarmes who have deployed a vast maneuver to find them.

A first escapee was caught and detained on Sunday on the beach of Hamouro.

The second still actively sought was located between Hamouro and Sakouli, on Sunday afternoon.

The fugitive was shot in the leg after being hit by a car while trying to escape, as shown Kewezi Television.

This escape is the third in 18 months according to unions of prison officers of Majicavo denouncing the security of the institution which hosts 200 inmates, while the prison has a maximum capacity of 115 seats.
