Mayotte: A new landfill site of waste operational in mid-June 2014 in Grande-Terre

The new waste disposal center in the village of Dzoumogne belonging to the commune of Bandraboua in Grande-Terre in Mayotte will be operational from June 16, 2014 and will treat 100,000 tons of waste annually with a storage capacity estimated at 2,000,000 m3.
 
For its part, the open dump of Mamoudzou will be transformed into a place of transfer to the new landfill site and waste disposal as well as non-hazardous products.
 
A treatment station was also established on the site of Dzoumogne and may produce one megawatt of electricity by feeding end 6.000 to 10.000 inhabitants in 2016 or 2017, as indicated by the online Mayotte Hebdo newspaper.
