Mayotte: 84% of sea turtles found dead or injured on beaches victims of poaching

84% of injured sea turtles or discovered dead on the mahorian beaches have been victims of poaching, according to figures released by the stranding mahorais network of marine mammals and sea turtles (REMMAT).
 
Thus for the year 2012, among 114 turtles discovered dead and 56 others found wounded as well as "distressed" on the beaches of the island of perfumes, 84% of them

Stray dogs are also involved in nearly 2% of cases, as the newspaper of Mayotte relates.
 
As a reminder, the poaching of turtles in Mayotte is liable to one year's imprisonment and 15,000 euros fine.
