Mayotte: 200,000 tourists on the horizon of 2020




Tourism on the island of Mayotte after two years of consecutive decline recorded a growth of 14% last year with more than 52,000 visitors in 2013, the tourism sector for the first months of 2014 continues its march forward, according to a survey carried out by the departmental Committee of tourism of Mayotte with a quarantine of professionals (hotels, cottages, bed and breakfast, rental of vehicles).
 
86% of respondents consider it the beginning of tourist season 2014 in Mayotte very satisfactory in terms of attendance.
 
77% professionals who also responded to the survey said they are "very confident" for the weeks and months ahead by referring to the previously recorded reservations.
 
"After the sky fell over our heads with the events of 2011 and the very difficult awakening of 2012, the works provided and perseverance have enabled to reverse the trend in 2013", welcomed Rastami Abdou, Chairman of the Committee of tourism of Mayotte, which plans to receive some 200,000 passengers annually on the horizon of 2020.
