Mayotte: 160 turtle shells found since the beginning of the year on the beaches of the island




About 160 sea turtles shells of killed by poachers have been discovered on the beaches of Mayotte since the beginning of 2014.
 
The Mahoran beaches annually welcome about 2,000 sea turtles that lay their eggs in the sand.
 
As a reminder, the poaching of marine turtles in Mayotte is punishable by one year imprisonment and a 15,000 euro fine.
