The nautical gendarmerie brigade of Mayotte has hailed and queried during the day on Sunday in the northern coast of Mayotte two boats of type Kwassa Kwassa from Anjouan, with 56 illegal immigrants on board.

All illegal immigrants upon arrival on the ground, underwent a medical examination for a rapid health assessment, until the authorities undertake various administrative procedures for escort to the border.

The alleged smugglers were placed in custody by gendarmes to be heard.
 
The gendarmerie of Mayotte also recalls that the number of intercepted kwassas is increasing steadily in recent years with 1.039 boats caught since 2007 and that carried about 25,000 illegal immigrants coming from the Comoros.
 
Thus in 2007, 44 vessels were intercepted, 89 in 2008, 100 in 2009, 138 in 2010, 256 in 2011 and 238 in 2012, as the journal of Mayotte relates.
