Mauritius will perceive 88 million euros of funding till 2015 from the European Union

The bodies of the European Union announced that Mauritius will receive 88 million euro (3.5 billion rupees) funding till 2015 for development in the context of the budgetary support program.

Thus, in December 2013 a first instalment of 27 million euro, that is a little more than a billion rupees, has already been filled into the coffers of the Treasury.

In addition, the European Union alongside the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) also gave their agreement to the release of some 7.5 million euro coming to support the sustainable development of Small Island Developing States (PEID*) as reported in the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.

These funds will thus be added to the amount of 10 million euro, already allocated for a total of 17.5 million euro available within the regional financial envelope for the 10th EDF (European Development Fund.)
