Mauritius the most economically liberal country of Africa

According to the latest annual report for 2015 of the Economic Freedom of the World - launched by the Canadian institute Fraser - Mauritius is still positioned in first place in sub-Saharan Africa in terms of economic freedom in particular before Botswana and Cape Verde.

Mauritius picks up a score of 76.4 points out of 100. As a reminder, four specific areas are screened for prioritisation: the rule of law, the effectiveness of the regulation of industry, government burden (limited government) and the opening of markets.

Each country is thus considered as economically "free" (score of 80 or more), "rather free" (70-79), moderately free (60 to 69.9) or "repressive" (less than 50).
