Mauritius: construction of a marine terminal to accommodate cruise ships




The tourism sector of cruise ships disembarking in Mauritius should experience in the coming years significant structural developments. The Mauritius Port Authority plans to build a marine terminal to receive the towering ships.

The project under study is assessed at 800 million rupees * and one billion rupees. The authorities intend to accommodate by 2025 some 100,000 cruise passengers.
 
As a reminder, twenty cruise ships must anchor in Mauritius in 2015, with more 20.000 cruise passengers expected. The tourism sector of cruise in Mauritius bring in the coffers around 600 million rupees every year, nearly 6 million rupees for the only organization of the Mauritius Port Authority.
 
18 cruise ships docked in Mauritius throughout 2014. 15,661 tourists and tour passengers were on board.
