Mauritius assumes the presidency of the Vanilla Islands

The rotating Presidency of the Vanilla Islands will be handled by Mauritius as from Wednesday, June 10 and not in August as had been initially scheduled.

The Mauritian Minister of Tourism, Xavier-Luc Duval, will thus be for six months at the head of the association comprising among its members seven Indian Ocean islands. Mauritius succeeded Madagascar and the Comoros Islands will give way to the end of his presidency.

On a reminder note, the Vanilla Islands advocate since their creation in August 2010, the repositioning of the Indian Ocean as a tourist destination and the cohesion of the member countries around this common goal.

Mauritius, Reunion, Madagascar, Seychelles, Comoros, Mayotte and the Maldives thus want to have a higher profile by bringing together their plurals assets within the same regional tourist-oriented structure.

The tourism sector creator of the direct and indirect jobs, sustainable real growth lever, is the basis of development initiated by the Vanilla Islands.
