Mauritius: Tourists are becoming more and more careful about their expenditures during their stay in the island




While the number of tourists visiting Mauritius increased by 10.6% for the first quarter of 2015 along with 291,329 tourist arrivals identified during the first quarter this year, travelers in their wake drained expenditure on the ground of some 11.8 billion Mauritian rupees *.
 
For the same calendar period of 2014, these expenditures stood to 11.5 billion rupees, but for 263,293 tourists who visited the island on vacation.
 
A foreign traveler on stay in Mauritius locally spent approximately 40,717 rupees during the first quarter 2015 against 43,738 rupees last year. In 2013, these expenses reached 45,381 rupees and 52,550 rupees for the year 2012.
 
Holiday maker who chooses the Mauritius destination also spends less nights on site, with an average of 11.1 nights listed for the three months of this year compared to 11.4 night stay during the same quarter a year earlier.
