Mauritius: The price index for construction in very slight decline on the island




While the construction market on the island contracted since a few months with a slowdown in the activities in the wake of a slight decrease of private investment, the index of construction price has registered a slight decrease of 0.1% during the second quarter of 2014, as reported the organism of Statistics Mauritius in its latest revisions published in mid-week.
 
The construction price index has thus passed from 11, 26 points in March to 112,5 points registered last month.
 
Thus the price of cement experienced on this trimestral period a reference increase of 0.3% and carpentry has also been affected by an increase of 0.2%.
 
Conversely, prices of iron bars decreased by 0.1%, 0.3% wiring and galvanized sheets by 2.2%, as reported in the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
