Mauritius: The number of drivers tested positive increases




77,670 contraventions were drawn against motorists caught speeding on roads Mauritius since the beginning of 2014 by some forty speed cameras in operation on the island and flashed by mobile radars used by the police officers.
 
In addition, 2307 positive alcohol tests were sanctioned against 2287 drivers caught out last year.
 
The problem of driving while intoxicated is a major road safety problem on the island, with an increase of the phenomenon. 1,728 cases were registered in 2011 and 2268 positive tests in 2012.
