Mauritius: The construction site of connected cities start after the green light from authorities




The Mauritian governmental project to create at least nine cities completely connected has officially started. The Mauritian authorities have thus gave their approval on Wednesday for the construction of three of them.
 
These "Smarts Cities" will be born in Cap Tamarin (southwest of Mauritius) at Pailles in the north of the island as well as in South East of the country. The first works are scheduled in 2016 and the first phase of the government project will be completed within five years.
 
54 billion rupees (1.4 billion euros) of investment will be undertaken, including 75% from foreign investors. The amounts remain will be deployed by Mauritian partner companies.
