Mauritius: The budget allocated to the Office of the Mauritius Tourism increases by more than 43%




Earlier this week, the Minister of Finance, Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo, announced that the annual budget for the Office of Tourism of Mauritius - MTPA (1) - will be raised by more than 43% for the period 2015-2016.
 
MTPA will thus receive 560 million rupees against 390 million rupees (2) earlier to sell the island Mauritius destination across the world.
 
As a reminder, 91,128 tourists arrived in Mauritius on holiday in February 2015. They were 78 984 a year earlier, an increase of 15.4%. The European market alone represents 56,770 passengers up by 10.6%.
 
1,038,968 tourists had also landed in Mauritius the previous year, an increase of 4.6% in comparison with tourist arrivals recorded in 2013 and its 993,106 tourists recorded.
