Mauritius: The bank accounts of the former Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, soon frozen




Pursued since this weekend in several new cases of forgery and use of forgery and money laundering, the former Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam will soon see his bank accounts frozen by the justice of his country.
 
The police in charge to investigate the numerous cases in which Navin Ramgoolam is involved, are interested particularly about the three chests where the name of Navin Ramgoolam appears. The first safe is on his name, second one in his wife’s name and the last one held jointly with his sister Sunita Joypaul.
 
One of the chests could contain according to preliminary information 110 million rupees, as reported by the newspaper Le Défi Quotidien.
 
A search will soon take place at the branch of the Mauritius Commercial Bank (Bell-Village) to unveil the specific content of these chests. Since Monday, police officers are stationed on guard outside the bank in order to avoid that third parties cannot access the coffers.
