Mauritius: The authorities strengthen their emergency plan in case of a major disaster




The new Minister of the Environment, Raj Dayal, recently communicated the new measures in case of natural disasters on the island, whether it is a cyclone or in case of heavy rains in Mauritius.
 
Thus, a helicopter and police force of the Special Mobile Force (SMF) will be mobilised constantly to be ready to participate in disaster relief and assistance to victims.
 
Firefighters and medical personnel will also be placed in standby and off-road ambulance will be available to evacuate any injured.
 
The emergency and rescue system should be operational by 31 December.
