Mauritius: The airline company Air Mauritius wishes to make the acquisition of large carriers of new generation as part of the renewal of its fleet

In the context of the renewal of its fleet between 2017 and 2020, the airline company Air Mauritius wishes to acquire 6 jumbo jets, including the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 787, as stated recently by André Viljoen, Director-General of Air Mauritius to  the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.

"Air Mauritius is a renowned airline company in Africa and in the region. It is necessary to reinvent it to maintain our status as a four star, which was awarded to only 35 air carriers in the world. In order to maintain this status, we need to renew our fleet with larger carriers of new generation", said André Viljoen.

"With our return to profitability after two years of continuous losses, we have achieved our financial goal... We set targets for cost reduction. Large aircraft of type Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 consume consuming an average of 25% less fuel than our current fleet... This remains a strategic choice to improve the company's image," also added André Viljoen, Director-General of Air Mauritius.
