Mauritius: The aging population will concern more than a third of Mauritians in 2100

While the Mauritian population currently accounts for approximately 1.27 million people, a recent report  from the United Nations predicts that Mauritius could enumerate 952.000 souls 2100 in the wake of a decline in the birth rate and a marked aging of the population of the island.

In 2100, 37.5% of the Mauritian population should thus be aged over 60 years against 13% today. And 13.3% of Mauritians will be over 80 years.
