Mauritius: Monkeys disturbing the daily life of inhabitants of the South

For over a week, some residents of southern Mauritius in the Rose-Belle region and living around a ravine are exasperated by the presence of monkeys which greatly disrupt their daily lives.

Macaques pulled in by hunger thus take their trash, descend the roofs of houses and also leave after their passage messy gardens. According to local residents, the bad weather that has recently affected this part of the island is the main cause of the presence of these wrongdoing visitors and pushed out of the forest.

The authorities have been notified and have proceed rapidly with the capture animals using traps specifically designed for this purpose.
