Mauritius: Increase in airport charges for airline companies serving the International Airport of Plaisance

While the new passenger terminal of the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam international airport of Plaisance operational since September 2013, which cost 229 million euros, has already resulted in an increase in airport charges for airline companies by 20%, a further increase 3.2% has been applied since 1 April 2015.

Airline companies which serve Plaisance did not appreciate this latest increase, which aims to cover the expenditure related to the registration of service counters to the use of the gateway and at the cost of equipment deployed on the track.

Airlines could also quickly pass these additional costs on the price of airline tickets.
