The activity of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius since the beginning of the year is falling, the SEMDEX index calculated on all to shares quoted on stock market has lost around 5.3% of its value since the beginning of the 2015.
At the close of the market at the end of last week, the SEMDEX has declined by 1.1% to reach 1964.42 points. In contrast, the secondary market Development and Enterprise Market (DEM), comprising of 47 medium and small companies, recorded in slightly more than one year nearly 11% growth, and that between the end of May 2014 and the beginning last June. The DEM had accumulated on this qualifying period of 49 billion rupees (1.25 billion) market capitalisation in its wake.
As a reminder, the SEMDEX index had decreased by 1.05% in 2014 and jumped to 21% in 2013.
