Mauritius: Bioethanol fuel soon at the pump

The sugar industry group Omnicane will in the coming months introduce on the market a biofuel produced from sugar cane bagasse.
 
The production unit established in La Baraque the region of l'Escalier in the South of Mauritius was recently inaugurated by the Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam.
 
The factory will be operational within a period of six months after some final works in the wake of the installation of a new technical module allowing complete dehydration of ethanol, as reported by the newspaper L'Express of Mauritius.
 
Ethanol product will then be mixed with gasoline.
 
The refinery should pass 24 million liters per year for a project that will cost about 1 billion rupees (25 million euros) and that will create about 40 direct jobs locally.
