Mauritius: Beaches of the South West of the island victims of erosion will shortly be embellished with coconut palm plantation




For two years, the beaches of southwestern Mauritius are hit by an increasing erosion phenomenon.
 
The sandy expanses prized by numerous sea lovers on the side of Bel Ombre, Baie-du-Cap, or la Prairie or even au Morne Beach are thus affected. In order to prevent further erosion, the Ministry of Environment is preparing to plant along the beaches a hundred coconuts which will help to solidify the ground. The construction of retaining walls is also scheduled from August.
 
Work on the southwest coastline are estimated to be over 28.5 million rupees * to save the natural beauty of the sites and provide embellishment of tourist places.
