Mauritius: Asthma kills more than 100 patients annually




While the World Asthma Day has been celebrated on May 5 and that the prevalence rate in Mauritius is around 6%, the chronic illness today have serious consequences for some patients.
 
Thus, asthma attacks kill around 100 to 150 patients annually on the island, according to recent figures listed by the medical institution.
 
As a reminder, the last study conducted about this disease had revealed that about 11% of Mauritian children had asthma.
