Mauritius: An intravascular imaging device operating at Victoria Hospital in Port Louis

The cardiology service of Victoria Hospital is now equipped with a new imaging device to diagnose cardiac. This is an intravascular device which cost 1.5 million rupees.

This tool will allow the practitioner to have an external image of the artery and to determine the type of surgery to practice. A technical team from South Africa moved to Mauritius for the installation and implementation operation of the device.

The unit will make 100 examinations annually but only 40 during the first year. It should be noted that the death rate from cardiovascular disease has declined from 22.8% in 2005 to 17.7% in 2013, as indicated the Le Matinal newspaper.
