Mauritius: Air Mauritius under the tutelage of the Prime Minister's Office

With the financial results in the red during the last balance for the exercise 2014-2015 of Air Mauritius which terminates on March 31 of this year, the Prime Minister’s Office of Mauritius has formalized at the end of last week the setting under its tutelage of the company in zone of strong turbulence.

The decision had been acted over one month ago, however it has been communicated only Friday night. Thus henceforth it will be the Prime Minister Sir Anerood Jugnauth who will give or refuse consent of the final in strategic and financial decisions of the straw-tailed company.

The national airline company of Mauritius has 950 million operational loss due to a depreciation of the euro against the dollar over the period.

To this is equally added 1 billion rupees of deficiency in the wake of a fuel purchasing system (hedging) through which Air Mauritius had been negotiating in advance a set price for a barrel of oil. In the end, the company paid its fuel at a much higher level than the actual market price.
