Mauritius: AIDS has killed over 110 people on the island in 2014




AIDS has killed 115 people in 2014 in Mauritius. It is thus 953 HIV positive who have lost their lives on the island since 1987, victims of the disease.
 
86,063 screening tests have also been conducted by the Ministry of Health. 322 new HIV cases were identified. 70 young people have thus been positive for HIV, including seven minors under 15.
 
As a reminder, According to official statistics, HIV / AIDS virus affects over 6,000 people living with HIV in Mauritius last year.
 
However, the number of HIV in Mauritius would be much higher and is estimated by the Prevention Information Association against AIDS (PILS) to be about 10,000 cases, or thousands of people who are ignorant having contracted the HIV virus / AIDS.
