Mauritius: A new aircraft and two ships to fight against maritime piracy




The Mauritian authorities wish to replace one of its two aircraft of type Dornier which allow them to monitor their territorial waters and exclusive economic zone as well as combating maritime piracy.
 
The acquisition of this new aircraft of around 643 million rupees * will be mostly funded by a credit facility granted by India with 532 million rupees. The new aircraft is expected to be received in 2016.
 
The Coast Guard will also have on the horizon of 2017 two modern ships that can navigate in complete autonomy on a perimeter of 2,000 nautical miles. 724 million rupees have been supplied in the different budgets for the purchase of the boats.
