Mauritius: 82% of Mauritians already registered in conversion centers to retrieve their new biometric identity card
Some 763.000 Mauritians have already went in conversion centers to register and retrieve their new biometric identity card, before the deadline of September 15.
 
82% of the Mauritian population is thus concerned, as recently stated the director of monitoring the Mauritius National Identity Scheme (ISMN), Rao Rama project, as reported in the Le Matinal newspaper.
 
As a reminder, the new Mauritian biometric identity card is designed of polycarbonate and customized with data and graphics laser etched.
 
Particular encrypted within the chip in addition to the holder's medical record, ID number, last name, first name, surname at birth, sex, date of birth, photo, fingerprints of the thumb and forefinger, address and a digital certificate.
 
The new official document also incorporates in its electronic chip medical record of its owner.
