Mauritius: 3.2 million liters of alcoholic beverages imported from January to November on the island




From January to November 2014, some 3.2 million liters of alcoholic beverages (wine, liquors, whiskey, vodka, etc.) landed in Mauritius from the import sector and have been purchased for nearly 1.3 billion rupees. *
 
The tourism sector flows a major portion of the cargo.
 
In 2013, about 1.4 billion rupees have been spent on the importation of alcohol on the island. For their part, the various Mauritian factories of alcoholic beverages yielded locally in 2014 more than 41 million liters amounting to some 2.8 billion rupees.
 
As a reminder, Mauritians bought no less than 53.5 million bottles of alcoholic beverages in 2012 for expenses amounted to 2 billion rupees (about 50 million euros), including 4 million bottles of wine, 12, 6 million bottles of whiskey and 36 million rum and beer cans.
