Madagascar could be given an additional financial envelope from the African Development Bank as being a vulnerable State

Madagascar will soon be eligible for the 13th African Development Fund (FAD), arranged by the African Development Bank (BAD) which must be spread out from 2014 to 2016.

In the wake of the 5 years of political crisis and institutional, Madagascar might equally be eligible for an additional financial envelope as being a “fragile” State by the African Development Bank.

“Madagascar has many needs, this is why the local BAD team has decided to look for other solutions by giving it the status of vulnerable State. This will allow the country to obtain an additional finance which could have the value approaching the double or even triple of the (FAD), "said Abdelkrim Bendjebbour, Permanent Representative of ADB Madagascar.

The 13th African Development Fund will be around 95million dollars as relates the L’express of Madagascar newspaper.

"The determination of the amount of funding allocated to a country is based on its performance on some social or macroeconomic indicators. With the five years of crisis, it is clear that the performance of Madagascar fell", also stressed the permanent representative of BAD in the island, Abdelkrim Becca.
