Madagascar at the head of the Presidency of the Indian Ocean Commission




Madagascar retrieves today to the Presidency of the Commission of the Indian Ocean (IOC) following the Union of the Comoros, while the Chairman Hery Rajaonarimampianina was elected democratically in December 2013.
 
Hery Rajaonarimampianina is in Moroni, this Wednesday, April 9, 2014, for the official transfer of power ceremony at the Council of Ministers of the IOC.
 
The Secretary General of the IOC, Jean Claude the Estrac, already welcomed in January last "momentum of hope and optimism that represents this new departure for Madagascar".

The organisation whose bases were launched on 20 December 1982, in Port Louis in Mauritius has been institutionalized January 10, 1984 by the agreement of Victoria in the Seychelles.
 
The IOC brings together the Union of the Comoros, Reunion, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles as a member of the Commission of the Indian Ocean that defines and develops projects of regional economic cooperation.
