Madagascar: Withdrawal of the presidential candidacies of Andry Rajoelina, Lalao Ravalomanana and Didier Ratsiraka
The special electoral court (CES), newly reconstructed and took oath last Monday has revised, on Saturday, the list of candidates for the next Malagasy presidential election, that it had itself confirmed on May 3.

The three controversial candidacies for the presidential election, the current president of Transition Andry Rajoelina, Lalao Ravalomanana, the wife of former Head of State, Marc Ravalomanana, and the former president Didier Ratsiraka, were officially withdrawn from the list of candidates.

A decision that opens the way for the holding of a presidential election whose date has not yet been set and which will be recognized by the international community.

The Independent National Electoral Commission of the Transition (CNIT) and local representatives of the United Nations should set a new date for elections postponed indefinitely for now.

The blackballed candidates have 72 hours to be replaced by a replacement candidate. The final list of candidates will be issued within 7 days.

Five other candidates have been withdrawn for anomalies and false information submitted at the time of the filing of their application.

31 candidates are allowed to submit and vote at the ballot box and run the much coveted chair of the presidency.
