Madagascar: UNICEF and the Ministry of Health want to fight against child malnutrition
A large-scale health study conducted in 2009 showed alarming malnutrition infants in Madagascar.
 
Chronic child malnutrition affects more than half children under the 6 to 23 months of the Big Island and causing growth retardation among children involved.
 
Lack of nutrients in a crucial stage of their physical and intellectual development, these children faces serious nutritional deficiencies risk having growth impacted by this child malnutrition.
 
To curb the phenomenon, the Malagasy Ministry of Health and UNICEF (humanitarian association for the survival and protection of children in the world) have decided to work together to develop a program of dietary supplement, allowing mothers to feed their children through nutritional powders, alongside breast milk.
