Madagascar: The whale Festival on the island of Sainte-Marie begins on Friday, July 4, with at the honour Julien Lepers
The Whale Festival will take place from Friday, July 4 to Saturday to July 12, 2014, on the island of Sainte Marie and will allow professionals and local tourism stakeholders to mobilise around the event that wants to include the promotion of Madagascar.
 
The sponsor of the Whale Festival initiated by the association for the protection of cetaceans, CetaMada, will be this year, Julien Lepers famous presenter of French television and the 'Questions for a Champion' game broadcast on France 3.
 
This Whale Festival will begin with a Carnival with a high color parade where schools, associations and inhabitants of the Sainte-Marie Island will be gathered under the banner of the protection of marine mammals and their environment.
 
 
Exhibitions, traditional and other popular games concerts as well as discussions and seminars are also scheduled in the heart of the festivities, as reported by the newspaper Courrier of Madagascar.
 
As a reminder, a thousand of marine mammals, including many humpback whales, converge from mid-June to October in the channel of Sainte-Marie island located along the Malagasy East Coast to breed.
 
Then from November onwards, whales begin their long journey to Madagascar to fish‑bearing waters of Antarctica.
