Madagascar: The rainforests of the Atsinanana in vital danger according to UNESCO




 
Wet forest of the Atsinanana, classified world heritage of UNESCO and that unfold at the heart of six national parks in the eastern part of Madagascar, are now listed by United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture and heritage at risk.
 
The traffic of precious Woods like rosewood which is rife in the forests of the Atsinanana in the island, with an export to Asian countries, is thus highlighted by UNESCO which is sounding the alarm about the environmental areas in vital danger situation.
 
The ministry of craft, Culture and the heritage of Madagascar drew special emergency relief for the Malagasy population to protect natural heritage existing in the island, as reported by the newspaper Courrier of Madagascar.
 
As a reminder, traffickers exploit a parallel market lucrative where a kilo of precious wood sells for around 500 dollars (386 euro).
