Madagascar: The prostitution of underage girls denounced by UNICEF
At the launch of an awareness campaign against child abuse in the Panorama Hotel Andrainarivo of Tananarive, Anita Ingabire, local head of UNICEF in Madagascar denounced the growing scourge of prostitution that is gaining ground in the Big island, with more minor girls who are hit hard.

"Young girls prostitute themselves at the age of 8 years in Mahajanga, while they are 11 years old at Nosy Be. 40% of children aged 15 are trapped in prostitution in certain areas", blasted Anita Ingabire to wake awareness among the population.

From January to August, 2012, support groups for victims of child abuse reported more than 1,000 cases where young minor girls aged between 15 to 17 years experience pregnancy, early marriage, abandonment, sexual abuse and violence, as related the site lexpressmada.com.
