Madagascar: The owners of the taxi-brousses between Tananarive and Mahajanga denounce bribes
The owners of bush taxis of National Road 4 linking the capital Tananarive, in the center of the country, to the city of Mahajanga, located in northwestern Madagascar, are angry.

Representatives of the profession manage in the form of cooperative at the national level and the association of transporters and travelers believe that owners of taxi-brousses are strangled by the payment of many "intermediate" and "touts" to which are added bribes demand at roadside checks, as related by the newspaper L'Express of Madagascar.

"On average, between Mahajanga and Tananarive, cars are controlled more than fifteen times and drivers must pay bribes to each control. If at the start, a traveler pay 25,000 ariary (8.5 euros), vehicle owners will only receive 17,000 ariary (5.78 euros), in the end", denounces bitterly the president of the association of carriers and travelers.
