Madagascar: The locusts are at the gates of Tananarive and threaten dangerously the Malagasy capital
Locusts continue their alarming increase in Madagascar, devastating everything in their path, crop fields (corn, rice, etc...).

South, West and Malagasy heights had already declared a state of emergency to deal with the proliferation of swarms in the Big Island.

Now, it is the capital Tananarive in the center of the country which is threatened within a few days, depending on the power and direction of the winds, after the city of Antsirabe has been hard hit by locusts.

In an emergency, the authorities on a war footing and have unlocked emergency funds and are desperate to curb the proliferation of swarms before they reach Tananarive.

Five billion dollars (3.8 billion euro) granted by the World Bank, the funds will be managed locally by the United Nations and Food Agriculture Organization (FAO) will also be involved in the fight against locusts, as indicated lexpressmada.com site.

Since 1950, Madagascar had never known such a scale proliferation of swarms.

According to some experts, two-thirds of the island will be affected by September.
