Madagascar: The frost decimates vegetable crops and threatening the supply of carrots and potatoes of the Malagasy capital
Madagascar has been hit hard by a frost event, there are about two weeks.

The sharp drop in temperatures has thus severely damaged vegetable crops around the city Ambohibary-Sambaina located the center of the country in the region of Tananarive.

The fields of carrots and potatoes were destroyed over 90% and the persistence of cold in the area worries farmers who have lost everything during this freezing weather phenomenon.

"We have invested a lot of money in the culture for months. The result is that there are now only two or three centimeters plants of carrots and potatoes. Many farmers are disappointed by this degradation of planting", says a carrots farmer to the lexpressmada.com site.

The rising prices of vegetables have not yet arrived at the market stalls of Tananarive, but the warning signs are already present upstream.

Indeed, seven trucks a day usually feed markets of Tananarive.

Today it is 7 transports that provide per week the production of the city-Ambohibary Sambaina to the Malagasy capital.
