Madagascar: The fight against sexual exploitation included in the development projects of the tourism sector

For two days last weekend, Malagasy tourism actors and those fighting against the spread of HIV AIDS in Madagascar led a joint reflection during a workshop to eradicate this scourge which blights the island.

Vulnerability factors favouring the risk of sexual exploitation of children in Madagascar around tourist sites were discussed, as indicated in the Midi Madagasikara newspaper.
A resolution was thus developed between all participants to make the fight against HIV AIDS registered in a perennial way in the heart of the Malagasy tourism industry in the wake of its development projects, while calling the authorities to join this process of accountability facing this reality.

As a reminder, a report of the Committee on the rights of the child of the United Nations, published in February 2012, highlighted that "sexual tourism involving minors and child prostitution are realities that have worsened since the 2009 crisis".
