Madagascar: The dahalo insecurity and political crisis since 2009 descholarised young children in the South-East of the Big Island
The region of Fianarantsoa in the south-east of the Big Island, is experiencing a worrying decline in attendance in their schools in the first degree.

According to official figures from the education authorities in the region of Fianarantsoa, 20% of school-age children are forced to stay at home.

One third of students thus no longer attend a primary school because their parents bear the brunt of the economic effects of the political crisis that strongly undermines Madagascar since 2009.

The remaining two-thirds are also the same, not leaving for fear of being kidnapped on the way to school by dahalo (Editor's note: thieves zebu), as occurred recently in the commune of Mahazoarivo.

Eight teachers have been killed in attacks by dahalo in their villages around Matsiatra Ambony.

Several students were also wounded by gunfire, as shown in the Site Madagascar-tribune.com.

A perilous situation for the future of school that the regional authorities denounced by calling the central government so that it can respond as soon as possible.
