Madagascar: The balance of trade between January and June deficit between January and May 2014




According to the latest figures released by the Directorate General of customs of the island, Madagascar registered a deficit in its balance of trade between January and May, 2014 of 615 million dollars, approximately 1.2 billion ariary.
 
The Malagasy imports during this period amounted to 1.37 million dollars (3.27 billion ariary).
 
For their part, exports on foreign markets from January to May 2014 have reaped some 760.479 (1.8 billion ariary).
 
Thus, in May last China was the first country to import, with 20% of imports from this country.
 
The United Arab Emirates and the France followed and completed the podium, as reported by the newspaper Courrier of Madagascar.
